Funky Picnic Core Beer Flight
Welcome to Funky Picnic Brewery & Café! What you have in front of you is a flight of our four core Funky Picnic beers. These beers are always on our menu and will give you a wide variety of flavors, showcasing the talent of our brewery.
When sampling a variety of beers, you will always want to go from the least intense to the most intense flavored beers. You don’t want to desensitize your tastebuds with the first beer, and then be unable to fully taste the rest. We have already organized your flight this way here, from left to right.
Beer is a multi-sensory experience. Before you taste each beer, place the beer an inch or two from your nose and take a few quick sniffs, followed by a longer sniff to get the entire olfactory experience. Do you smell fruity hops? Grainy malt? Expressive yeast?
As you take a sip of the beer, notice what flavors you find right up front, as well as those that linger after you have swallowed it.
Also notice how the beer sits in your mouth and how it feels on your tongue (we call this the mouthfeel). Is it light bodied or thick? Highly carbonated or almost still? Any other lingering sensations?
We hope you enjoy the flight and then order a full pint of your favorite. Cheers!
LA RAZA
MEXICAN LAGER (5.0% ABV)
The lightest beer on our menu, it is made with corn to lighten the body and add a hint of sweetness. Easy drinking and pairs with a variety of food, La Raza is easily our best seller! Try it with a lime or fully dressed with Chamoy and Tajin!
IT’S CALLED LOVEBUS
HEFEWEIZEN (4.9% ABV)
This German-style Wheat ale is bursting with notes of banana taffy, spicy clove, and hints of vanilla. But don’t be fooled, none of those ingredients are actually in this beer. The flavor comes from a very expressive yeast strain traditionally used in Germany.
FUNNY ACCENT
EXTRA SPECIAL BITTER (6.1% ABV)
An amber English ale, this beer is not as bitter as the name might imply. When it was originally brewed, it was more bitter than most styles at the time, but is very mild compared to the beers of today. Looks for notes of fig, biscuit, and toffee with a light herbal bite to it.
TWO PEANUT BUTTERS, ONE CUP
PEANUT BUTTER MILK STOUT (6.5% ABV)
For one of our most unique core beers, we start off with a core traditional Milk Stout that gets its name from the milk sugars (lactose) that are added during the brewing process. Because these sugars are complex and not easily consumed by the yeast, the sweetness remains in the beer and is not converted into alcohol. We then add peanut butter extract for that extra bit of flavor.
